Hi all

Wife drove around the shops. Parked the car in the shed. Sat there for 3 days. Went to kick it over and the turbo was making a weired noise. Turned the car off straight away and you could here the turbo spooling down.

Rang local Ford dealer told him that it ran out of warranty but I have the extended warranty (not through Ford). Didn't really want to no about it. Thought stuff you.

Spoke to a performance shop here in Mackay. told him the story. He organized a tow truck to pick the car from home. 2.00pm he rang and said looks like the turbo was stuffed without pulling it apart. His words " give me a contact name and number for your extended warranty and I will sort it out". Big thanks to him.

3.00pm he rang again. Car will be fixed under warranty including all parts (rebuilding the turbo) and labour. Couldnt not have been happier. Best $1360.00 I could have spent on the extended warranty. (Please note my car is stock in the engine department)

Going to pick the car up tomorrow so I will let you all know what happened and how its going.

Cheers

Paul

It needs to be pretty quiet when spinning down, as the bearing pack may otherwise be on it's way out.

We have heard about a few of these lately, so I'm glad I took mine to TurboTech to be checked and re-built :spoton:

There will always be some noise as the turbine slows down especially if you have just started the car and moved it then turned it off with out it getting hot. There is extra clearance in the bearings to allow for correct clearances when the turbo is hot.

My ute has made a wind down noise since i bought it with 19000k's on it.

a scraping of ticking noise would be something to worry about... :spoton:

jordak

It sounded like there was no oil running through it. Sounded greaity. The turbo when spoolond down sounded a like a bloody jet plane and lasted for a good 20 to 30 seconds????
