I used the factory mineral for 3000, then went semi synth until 7500, then full synth after that. Engine was well run in by the first 7500 though (no miss daisy here).

For engine oil, I use Nulon full Synth 10W-40.

http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?productId=syn10w40

Last purchase was $39 for each of the 5L containers (normally $49). Was previously using Castrol Edge 0W-40, but wont be going back. Nulon is Aussie, the full synth delivers less friction than even Castrol Edge for example, and costs less.

:spoton:

Run the same oil, but the only people who stock it in darwin have run out, seems Nulon cant make enough to keep the shelves stocked.

Almost oil change time if they dont get some more soon looks like its castrol edge instead.

Last week I had my EB wagon serviced with GTX3 (pretty good oil for a stinkin EB I reckon) then this week it blew a head gasket :spoton: so if anyone want 5.5 L of near new GTX3 premixed with coolant let me know :spoton:

I've been using Penrite SYN 5 for a while now. The engine certainly runs smoother, but a nasty 'tappet' sound has developed when I start it cold every morning that drives me crazy.

When it goes in for service soon I'll see if their standard sh*t oil they put in removes it. If it doesn't it's staying there.

Your gunna put mineral based stuff in an engine that has synthetic in it?

I am going to see if the mineral sh*t they put in will reproduce the tappet sound. If it does then I will speak to the service dept in more detail. If the sound is gone then I think the Penrite might me too thin, (5W/60) so I'll put in 10Wv40 in it.
