Hmmmm. Time to start putting the pennies away.

How much performance increase do these guys normally give?

They have a web site where you can see some of the work they've done - an S15 200SX apparently goes from 147KW to 171KW however I've read some information on them and I'm slightly dubious about their figures given they don't actually have an engine dyno....

Anyway, put in a free flowing exhaust, cold air intake, and optimise the fuel air ratios while turning up boost a little and you should be able to hit 300KW without too much difficulty, probably for under $5K - once someone's cracked the ECU.

Of course, Ford will be watching keenly to see how well the rest of the car holds up. :D

I heard that you can't change the exhaust without losing you warrenty... is this really the case???

l havent heard this but l wouldn't doubt it.

l dont think Ford will let you get away with any engine mods, and something like exhaust changes that could lead to a decent power increase, l believe will invalidate their warranty. Not to mention insurance hassles also.

l certainly wont be modding for that reason. l will be happy with 240kw knowing that l am under warranty :)

I would be very wary of chipping my car. if I melted a piston or something bad like that and I was chipped, id expect not to be covered by warranty. you have changed the way the computer operates the car. its just not worth it in my books. exhaust yeah, bigger frontmount yeah, air filter yeah, chip no thanks. it is good to see performance companies looking into modifying our cars though!!

MS700 I dont agree..........Its highly possible the ECU is self learning and those mods you mentioned wont mean squawt if the ECU limps is back into the preferred mappings.

The first place to start is the ECU. It all revolves around that.

If you cant crack the ECU, forget about touching anything else for modification.

And you know, I reckon one of the reasons Ford is being tough on mods is that the manual drivetrain wont take it, and Im not sure of the auto and the diff. Time will tell - but I dont want to be the geaunie pig who is the crash test dummy :)
