I didnt have huge gains from the 8psi tune as far as how it feels. There is more there but it doesnt make much difference down the quarter. If the extra 40 - 50rwkw doesn't impress you nothing will. Oh and get to the dyno and make sure all is well with AFR's or better still get a custom tune while you there. ←Everyone's right about putting in the 98RON fuel, but you should also heed jordak's advice and regap the plugs. This is all a bare minimum. Custom tune is definitely the best option for the long term. Good luck.
markxr6t Member 476 Member For: 20y 2m 4d Location: Perth WA Posted 31/05/06 02:51 AM Share Posted 31/05/06 02:51 AM out of interest, what sort of time improvement down the 1/4 should you expect if you do have just an edit with a custom tune. And I mean the same tune that you would use to drive around the streets (not sure how if you sometimes just have a tune setup for racing)I'm asking what sort of time improvement, as I realise that there are lots of other factors such as air temp that make a big difference.←In a manual, XXXR6T ran 13.5@ 106 mph with generic 10psi tune, but he can peddle those gears quickly as he did 13.85 stock. In a BA auto, there's a couple 12.9s been run by members of this site (is it PSI or CSI?)In a BF Auto, Simon from Xtreme has tuned in consistent 12.6, 12.7s from a tune only. Guys in Bathurst that are into motor-sport recommend AutoTech at Granville. I plan to go there myself. Also, if you are interested in giving your T a run on Mt Panorama (legally), send me a pm - I will give you details on the Bathurst Light Car Club; we do club events on the Mountain...CheersChris

boost69 Donating Members 737 Member For: 19y 7m 15d Posted 31/05/06 07:16 AM Share Posted 31/05/06 07:16 AM I would strongly suggest getting a custom tune done as the 10psi program has problems with boost spike.(not sure is this has been fixed now)Not every CAPA 10psi flash program will have this problem but ive seen cars that are running the default 10psi program boost to over 15psi and ping their a$$ off.The degree of spike will depend on the car also.It is well worth getting the custom tune done from a performance and engine safety perspective. HEMTODD Member 14 Member For: 18y 7m 3d Gender: Male Location: Bathurst Posted 31/05/06 08:37 AM Author Share Posted 31/05/06 08:37 AM I agree with what the others have posted above... to get the full benefit of the flash tuner you need a custom tune. And you shouldn't run the 10psi generic tune without 98RON unleaded in your car.Is 98RON fuel available where you live?Good luck with it...Jack ←Thanks for the advice , yes 98RON is available 40 mins away, I will be going there tomorrow evening to fill er up. Cant wait for the cruise home
