If the flasher has been used, it might have to go back to Capa to be reset - if it has not been vin locked then your tuner will be able to input the correct files for your car - but either way there SHOULDN'T be problems using the unit itself (not sure if CAPA charge to reset - perhaps give them a call to confirm details and any costs).

Cheers,

if a box hasn't been VIn locked are you able to have a tune for V8 and one for Turbo on the same box ?

The way I understand it, yes it's possible it can hold 3 different tunes. The problem will be when you go to use it.

Before you can down load the tunes in the box you must upload the tune that's been loaded from the factory. This is when the box becomes vin locked to that vehicle. To be able to use the other tune you would have to have then have the box reset. I would assume that that would mean clearing the original factory upload.

The process would be the same when you use it on the other car which means that it would then be vin locked to that car.

Remember you can only have it cleared 5 times before it must be sent back to SCT.

I suppose it would be a cheap way of custom tuning 2 cars, provided you intended only use those tunes all the time.

Could get very messy though if Ford decide to reflash both cars with an update though

Hope that makes some sense. If I'm wrong someone will correct it

If it has been used once, it is locked to the VIN of the car it has been used on, and it's this car's factory tune stored in the F slot.

The tuner who loads in the turbo tunes will be able to clear the F slot for you at the same time as he loads in the new tunes into slots 1,2 & 3. Once you use it on your car, it will first load your factory tune into slot F. The box will then be locked into your car.

You will not be able to juggle it so that two cars are modded.

One of the cars has to go back to standard - then the unit unlocked - before the next car ends up modded.
