You need to think more about the $40000 odd difference between your car and the Typhoon which is far more relevant.I like the Typhoon - but is it worth around $100,000 to you if you take into account all the interest and costs that it will incurr to pay off this loan? Therefore youll get $30,000 for the XR6 T, pay it out then start a new loan or lease on the new Typhoon, all the difference is going to be is the new ones going to cost another 5 k more, if you look around and get a good deal with some discount then this will be further reduced, probarly only costing you an extra 2 k on top of retail to get yourself into a new Phoon! Live for today, not next year!←Your only really fooling your self doing that. That 5 grang has got to come form somewhere so it's going on top of the best price you could have negotiated for a phoon anyway. Your only taking from one hand and putting it in the other.←No your not, your getting the car you want instead of paying for some sh*tbox your not happy with, that's the thing. Why keep putting $1200 a month into the XR6 T when its only losing value anyways, you may aswell be putting that 1200 a month into owning your new Typhoon Sooner then concerntrating on payingout the old on. It would be different if he wasnt already forking out $1200 a month, not to mention the fact that he may well have to spend another $6000 to replace the box in it. At $1200 a month a 65,000 k lease isnt going to cost much more, actually if you do it over 5 years its probarly going to be the same. I live for today, not tomorrow or any other day and if I want something bad enough I will do it. You cant take the bling with you when your 6 foot under. Mildman Member 149 Member For: 19y 6m 8d Posted 28/05/06 11:35 PM Share Posted 28/05/06 11:35 PM Leasing is cheaper than a personal loan you will find. Since leasing Fords I've much more in the pocket/ (Admittedly I also pay CSA) so the leasing helps with that. But fuel has a 15% discount, it's also before tax, the payments are about $800 a month for a 3 or 5 year lease. Wouldn't be more than $1000 a month for you on a 5 year deal. I am thinking of selling the T with all current mods on it. Bugger, I really don't know what to do now! I also want to see how the 6 speed auto holds up with 300+rwkw. It might be a little too early to see how that's going as of yet! But the longer I hold on to the 5 speed, the more chance I have of it going bang, and if that happens I will have to keep it at least another 4 years. Perhaps I should sell it now, save some coin whilst driving my bum around car, then get the phoon a few months down the track?? keep up all the advice and comments guys! I need all the help, info and options I can get! Also a stock car is worth more than a modded one.Find out what deal you can get as a trade on the current T against a F6.Buy the F6Either sell your mods or keep them for the F6.You will not regret getting one as it is a BIG step up from a T in both quality and treatment from your dealer. JimmyXR6T04 Member 1,299 Member For: 19y 10m 29d Location: Canberra Posted 29/05/06 01:37 AM Author Share Posted 29/05/06 01:37 AM considering I dont know how the ZF will hold the extra torque and grunt, I really should wait a little while. It won't be too long before some one knows a bit more. I'm worried I'll put myself in the same predicament as I am now in with the T5. Putting a T56 in my T, and keeping it for a few more years might make sense.. But if I put that $6000 odd into the phoon, then I am getting the phoon, plus I wont need to do valve springs in the T, or worry about internals on the T. The only mods I'd do on the phoon are injectors, dump pipe, cat, fuel pump.. I'd probably get away with all that fitted plus tuned for $2500-$3000. So I might be better off cutting my losses and selling the T as a modded car? including 19s? or do you guys think I'd better off selling it in parts? eg, my gauges, intercooler, wheels etc etc?But I can't shake that little demon that says keep the current T, upgrade to 6 speed.. and just pay it off first. Spend no more on it, except the gearbox. Then in another 3 years, the BFs should have dropped.. might even have a mk2 that is worth looking at??? I'm currently on a 12hr shift with nothing to do so all this thinking is making me Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/25675-permission-granted/page/2/#findComment-387649 Share on other sites

Sensible solution - Keep the T, take it easy on the gearbox, and it may survive for a long time. Keep an eye out for a cheap deal on a six speed (some of them must hit the wreckers soon). Pay the car off, and enjoy it.or 2. Put your car back to standard. Sell the bits (that you wouldnt re-use on the F6)off for as much as you can to get some cash to pay back some of the loan, then sell it privately to pay for the balance. Then... Go and get a really good deal on a used F6 that is about a year old. Be fussy and find a good one. Be hard on the price - cause you arnt desperate. Remember Mk2 BFs cant be far away - prices will drop again.or3. Same as 2 - but buy a new F6 on a runout deal when F6 BF Mk2 comes along. Make sure you get a cheap price, and dont trade your car. ie maximise the cost advantage in any way you can.or 4. Put the 6 speed in, and spend some more money on this car - more power, nicer bits and pieces - and still save some money on the other options.
