doesnt the manual specify 15w40 or something like that? The 10w type oils seem too thin to me, they are the thinner oils that the non turbo's use. I change my oil & filter every 5,000km & just use a caltex mineral oil. I dont drive it hard around the track, its just a daily driver. Have found my oil to be reasonably clean on oil changes, but still pretty black. I agree 15,000 is way too long, seals are still made of the same stuff & are gona go hard & leak if you wait the 15,000km. But then again why would ford care? This wont happen during the warranty period but will help with fleet service costs. Unfortunately we find lots of cars that come through my work with oil leaks at around the 100,000km-130,000km or 4-5 years old, too long in between services.

and then again if I am wrong, well early oil changes certainly wont do any harm!

I was told that every 20-30 k for a car that is driven like an xr6t should be.

And my engine oil, well I have just started using magnacrap, but that will change, I fing that the full synthetic stays cleaner longer.

And I use the same principle when changing it, one for me, one for ford. :spit:

You'll find it near impossible to find a 15-40w full synthetic oil, the common synthetics that your likly to find on the shelf are very thin like 0-30w or 5-30w. The new castol edge recommends 10-60w for the typhoon.

Costly but closer matched and even better poly ester based synthetics are avalible from Redline and Motul 300v 10-40w or 15-50w. Be perared to be ass raped on the price unless you know someone in the trade :-)

Heres a quote from redline site - "Red Line lubricants contain polyol ester base stocks, the only lubricants which can withstand the tremendous heat of modern jet engines, which makes our motor oil a necessity to properly lubricate a hot running engine or a turbocharger. More importantly, Red Line motor oils can significantly reduce engine wear, which means a longer useful life for your engine. Unlike other oils that break-down quickly, thus having to be changed at small intervals, Red Line has superior long-drain capabilities. Read about how Red Line synthetic oils have been shown to last 40,000 kms in field tests."

A lot of people are forgetting about the diff oil. I don't have the facts at hand however, from memory, MOFOCO recommend the diff oil be changed more often than the engine oil if you are doing a lot of highway driving or high speed stuff.

Correct me if I am wrong guys however, most people tend to ignore their diff oil and occasionally check the level. I don't believe the diff oil is included for servicing in the service intervals (I could be wrong here, just going from memory).
