Ford fan for life though I'm buying a BA XR6 later in the year and was wondering if there were any outstanding problems that I should be looking for that are consistent with the model?I have a habit of buying lemons and would prefer avoiding it this time around.TIA

Buy an XR6T - they are so much more fun than a plain XR6. If you are into cars - you would be silly to miss the opportunity. Or.... go one step futher and consider a MK1 F6 Typhoon. I had a Mki XR6 before I got the T and while it was still an enjoyable car to drive it couldn't match it with the T. The way re sale is for large cars at the moment you can pick up a nice T for not a hell of a lot more than a N/A would cost you. Insurance is an issue if your a young bloke and as far as fuel goes there is stuff all difference between the 2. If found the N/A used a smidge more on the open road and the T uses more around town if you flog it.

She has only just got her P plates and I don't want her driving such a powerful car. She isn't a confident driver at best and it's not something I would be comfortable with.b) I don't want to borrow more than $20k because in a few years we will be buying our first home and we are trying for kids. I have a deposit for the loan that will cover the difference to buy me a standard XR6.I'll be more than happy with the standard XR6. I've wanted one since they were first released but only now am I in a position to buy one.

Oh and welcome tot he site, you will like it here, there are lots of threads on how to spend money on doing up your car.Common Problems:Brake shudder with the stock brakes is VERY common, it can be fixed with a disk and pad replacement with non ford parts.HAnd brake sh sh sh noise, very common and can be ajusted outClunking from the driveline seems to be standard in all manuals, and some autos.Whining from the audioI am sure there are a few more, but this is the list of very common faults.
