Take Craig's car as an example. It has 377 RWKW and has done 10.68, presumably with Craig driving. Give the keys to me :fool: and I would probably be lucky to do 12s. But the car still has the same amount of power, so an observer that doesn't know it's not actually my car might think it was a bit slow considering the power output.

Sooo Ross , what you are saying is that a claimed time should be the owner of the vehicle, not just a pro brought in for the drive ???

If so I tend to agree, personally if I had someone else pilot the car, I couldn't and wouldn't claim the time and put it in my sig as I can't see the personal acheivement, therefore no bragging rights. Particularly with an 18 :fool: in the Phoon.

That said the Goose beat my T time by an alleged 0.2 sec with an additional 65 rwkw and a stallie, God love 'im :kissmy:

dyno run on dyno dynamics, street tyres were dunlop SP3000 235/45/17@25psi

1/4 mile was at AIR 18deg

rel. humidity 48

abs barometer 31.67

fuel, BP ultimate

and waiting for AIR to open again :fool:

What was the actual 60' ET and MPH?

Also when is A.I.R. expected to reopen. It's amazing that after all this time I still have the SA record. You croweaters are slower than the Tasmanians. :fool:

Geea. :kissmy:

sorry, 60' was 2.00

mph was 115

time was 12.3

and rumor has it we may have a track again in Oct-Nov, hopefully this year

My old car had the same power for the same results. It's best was 12.24@115 with consistant 12.3's with 281rwkw's. This was with Dunlops on 17's with stock stall.

This thread is starting to show similar power generating similar results.

Rob had a valid point though. A person who isn't very good at racing will cause the car to go slower than an experienced driver.

Very interesting thread Craig... will be good to see the results...

You have to add the manual XR6T's out there, they are quite a bit slower down the 1/4 mile than the similar power auto's...

The first bit of your post Jewels wasn't really what I was getting at. The last paragraph is more what I was trying to say. People have been quite critical of Steve because he claims his car has 3XX RWKW and at the time he hadn't taken it down the strip to "prove" how powerful/fast it really is (conspiracy theory about "happy" dynos etc). Now I recall Steve saying he was quite inexperienced at drag racing (me too, 1/4 mile "virgin" here! :kissmy: ) so it probably wouldn't go as fast as one might think with that much power.

By the same token, if you let someone like say Victor Bray drive Craig's car his time might be considerably lower than Craig's due to his skill and experience at drag racing. There are also a host of other factors that need to be taken into account with drag racing such as temp, track condition, tyre type and condition. So to sum up what I have been raving about dyno readings are a completely seperate issue to 1/4 mile times IMO.
