Hey,

Just went for a spin to the dump, gota love utes. Question is when I nailed it in manual mode 1st to 2nd it cut out on me. I didnt back off and it finally blasted into second after about 2 secs. It felt the same as the speed limit cut off.(not in this ute) Neighbour was with me, who is a HSV nut. I'm sure he was havn a quiet giggle...

Is there a cut off limit for 1st gear in the new 6 speed auto????

cheers :sleepystuff:

When my mate went and had a test drive of a XR6T ute with the 6 speed auto he said he hit the rev limiter and it took a couple of seconds before it got going again. Could it have been this?

I think its called the rev limiter.....

Does it smash your head into the steering wheel???

Pretty much, total cut out, must learn to change a tad quicker.

You've hit the rev limiter, which in standard cars is harsh.

Try to shift a little sooner or, alternatively, get the car edited and this issue will go away. Why?

- The rev limit will be set higher (if you wish)

- The rev limiter will be a "soft" limit. That is, the revs will not cut out but they will stop climbing. Much better than the forehead to the steering wheel cut off you have now.

Don't rely on the tach being accurate in 1st and 2nd in the 6 speeds. At 5000rpm indicated on the tach the engine is close to 6000rpm  :nono:

that's so stupid dont you think?!

I've got 6sp MAN, it it will cut at around 5850 - 5950 cant be sure I dont really watch it perfectly whilst thumping it so I just shift 5750 everytime, without fail. what gives!
