So I went down to Coffey Ford in Hallam for them to book it in to see what they can do. Unfortunatly my cars warranty expired in January but still is under 100 thousand ks. So 8am tomorow morning it goes in.In the mean time I have Rang Ford Customer Service to complain that it should be rectified and they should bare all costs for it or if not in part share the costs for it as if the car has "never" been involved in an accident and the seat is not due to were and tear but I beleive it be a design fault. This leaves me extreamly irrated. I am going to fight this. The seat as you all have said is a safety issue and if its a known problem it should be fixed for free if not bare the costs equally. The XR6T is not a bad car but the seats a much to be desired. Edited 23/05/06 02:30 AM by Shermanator2

It is a design fault period. Tommorow is going to be looked at and I think I am preparing for a good old argument. Better hit the grog early cause when I am sober I am timid . Just that I've never had a problem with mine (the seat that is). I weight about 83 kgs. Just wondering if this problem with the seat is related to the size of the occupant, ie. breakage due to stress under load.I think for a factory seat the XR seats are excellent and are far better than the equivalent seat in a Commodore. Guys are buying the XR seats to fit into other vehicles, so they can't be that bad.Maybe your were unlucky ??CheersRobin.

I am roughly around 5,10 and around 91kg so I am a bit overweight but hardly by all means obese. Main portion of weight is around my gut. I have been hooning around in a Hyundai getz for work purposes and their seat has held up very good so I don't know what gives with the seat in the XR6T. My only explanation is that it has to be a design fault if it is actually happening to a number of customers as it is seen here in the forum. Shermanator2 Member 60 Member For: 19y 16d Posted 23/05/06 11:47 PM Author Share Posted 23/05/06 11:47 PM Ok I have done some investigating. The problem starts off with a sqeaky seat that envuates into the seat giving way. So if you have a sqeeky seat then take it to Ford ASAP and get it checked out. As I said my seat was sqeeking prior to this happening. The car is currently at Coffey Ford getting investigated and hopefully I will have it back today before I start work. Please guys call Ford Customer Service if you have any of the problems with the seat.
