Shermanator2 Member 60 Member For: 19y 13d Posted 24/05/06 04:53 AM Author Share Posted 24/05/06 04:53 AM Ok They rejected it coming back with the line that I was not the original owner. So the dealer has re-submitted it again. I hope it is accepted! or those Monza seats are going to be the way to go. I am going to rip both them out and fit them instead. Shermanator2 Member 60 Member For: 19y 13d Posted 25/05/06 09:42 PM Author Share Posted 25/05/06 09:42 PM Man I still havent heard back from them and rang them. They said no we havent forgotten about you bla bla bla. Man once your warranty goes be prepared to pay out of your rectum if something does go wrong. The Spare parts/second hand for BA XR6's is pretty scarce. I rang Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage and they sell whole interiors rather that seat bases etc. They are not willing to separate unfortunatly. A simple seat base problem like this cant be solved? Man I am starting to regret buying my XR6T I am sad to say.
Shermanator2 Member 60 Member For: 19y 13d Posted 26/05/06 12:08 AM Author Share Posted 26/05/06 12:08 AM (edited) I think I am getting somewhere guys. Ok check this out. After speaking to work collegues and I mentioned the problem I am facing they said to go and see some of the motor trimmers here in "censored". So one particular place I went to just happens to be a trimmer who trims for "LOOK OUT ITS COMING" FORD!.Now at the time he was working on the trim of a BA Fairmont Ghia and he had the Leather Trim taken off the seat. What I saw was a entire metal frame being worked on. To my supprise he showed me what the seat comprises of. The seathas styrofoam inserts everywhere masking this big metal side bar that protrudes out to supposedly provide a support for your sides. In the event of a side impact and your side airbag (If Fitted) deploys it would send you into this metal side bar that could possiblly kill you. The styrofoam inserts on this particular Ford he was working on had pretty much deteriorated to the extent that it was protruding through the leather. Requiring the leather to be mended. Thus the car coming to him.To top it off he had a good gork at my seat and said that it is a very common problem, with the tell tail signs that their is a crack in the support frames when you get the dreaded squeek out of it. This also comprises that he do some welding to strenghthen it so that this problem never happens again. Not bad so next Wednesday is when he is free to do it.On my way home I decided to drop in to Coffey Ford in Dandenong and enquire what the parts would cost if I were to purchase it from them instead of the Hallam service center. Get this Trade price is what I was offered and they would do it for 800 bucks :cussing:. So what is the 1475 bucks that I was quoted?? Well anyway we will see what this all ends up with as Hallam Service Centre supposedly are going to call me today to get it repaired at the expense of Ford paying half the costs for it. My wonder is what its going to cost me halved? Knowing that the parts at its parent dealership I got quoted was 800 bucks.Man at the end of the day Ford Service is just as bad as Expensive Daewoo if not worse. :cussing: :cussing: Edited 29/05/06 02:16 AM by Cro
