Gday guys,

Just a quick one, I removed my airbox a couple of weeks ago to fit a pod filter.

Basically it sounded awesome when boosting and backing off but I noticed considerable power loss! I guess there is no real good spot for positioning the pod. As someone mentioned previously they draw too much hot air from the engine and the air from the intake above the radiator just swirls around the pod rather than being forced in, I didnt think it would have such a considerable effect on performance, but hey you learn from your mistakes.

Having the power outweighed the sound.

So just a heads up for anyone who is considering fitting a pod filter, mount it somewhere where it will get forced cold air or forget about it and save the money.

I have now re-fitted the airbox and replaced the standard panel filter with a K&N Panel filter - Big Difference!! They definetly work.

The next challenge is to remove the induction from above the radiator and direct the feed to the airbox from underneath the headlight, apparently there is a considerable amount of air that passes under the headlight.

Anyway just some food for thought!

Cheers guys!

Yer but I wont my car to dose like a vl ssssssss tuttutt liek that lol

Then remove your BOV... simple

The sound they make isnt a good one... its the sound you can hear feintly when you change gears, but its minimal because the BOV is venting most of it. If you didnt have the BOV it would all be putting back pressure on the turbo and making that sound you like... I prefer a bit of extended turbo life so I'll pass.

just fitted a pod for curiosity. I have a turbosmart BOV, and could only just hear some pod noise with the BOV. With the intake pipe completely off it sounds mad even with the turbosmart valve.

If I took the BOV off it would sound mad but I'm not sure I want to do this. I pod very close to the turbo is the way to go for sound. I'll put the std valve on and see how that sounds with the pod.
