I have been cruisin this site for quite a while now. Lots of good info. And by damn I got a T and what a ride she is!

My question is about the EDIT. Is it a set reprogramming of the ECU, or a hardware addon that selectively uploads profiles to the ECU? I'm in VIC, what would you recommend in getting an EDIT?

I need some more sting.

The Capa Ford Flasher otherwise known as edit, allows the factory ECU program to be overwritten. This is done is a complete 'flash' of the ECU code.

The actual unit itself is a small box, that allows the factory map, plus three additional tunes to be stored. Any of these tunes can be flashed into the car at any time by the owner. This process simply requires the car to be off for about 3 minutes whilst the selected program is uploaded via the port in the fuse box in the drivers footwell. When finished the flasher is disconnected and can be stored where ever the driver sees fit. There is no additional hardware left on the car at the completion of this process.

The flasher when purchased comes with some generic tunes from capa, however I would STRONGLY recommend getting a custom tune. A good tuner will be able to discuss what you want to acheive, and tune your car to suit, as well as making sure you are getting the best return in preformance, drivability, fuel economy etc, whilst keeping things safe.

In Melbourne you have the two workshops that get the most respect from this forum in the country. These are Nizpro in Bayswater - speak with Simon or Dave, and hpf in Dandenong - speak with Rob. I would definitely recommend speaking to any workshop you are considering, and making your own judgement.

For what it is worth, I get my car tuned at Nizpro, and in IMHO no one knows as much about these cars and how to tune them as Simon and Dave. I am certainly one very very happy customer. :pooh:

Good luck with the process, and in getting an edit - it really should bring a great big smile to your face!

Cheers,

Ben.

Definatly do it mate.

I went to HP-F for an edit and I deeply regret the fact that I had the car for 2 years before doing it. :fool: that's 2 years of my life totally wasted. :spoton:

Problem is they got me addicted and I keep going back for more power :msm:

And I aint finished yet.......

now that the edit has been around for ages-how are all the auto's holding up? I have been putting the edit off for fear of my auto dying. I just want to edit-run a fairly safe custom tune-was hoping around 8-10psi. nothing crazy just a little extra go-no dramas with the auto now but am still a little worried.
