If you're looking for "power gain" then why aren't you getting a free flowing exhaust and extractors?! If money's the issue then save up and do it right the first time.

One of my favourite sayings:

Buy Cheap. Buy Twice

You can normally pick up the Typhoon airbox & intake (larger intake comes over the radiator + an extra one from behind the left headlight) off eBay for under $200. Or just go to your local dealer. Not many in wreckers yet!

g'day guys, sorry to bring up an old thread

Just wondering how you guys went with your exhaust choices. I'm after probably a cat back exhaust myself (for my XR6 N/A) but I'm just after a little bit more grunt and a sportier note. However, I'm not after something LOUD, but something a bit gruntier than the standard BA exhaust puts out haha. Any suggestions guys?

Thanks!

Julza

for the ba xr6, I wouldnt advise just taking off the centre muffler.

yes its loud and hits every note very hard. but it sounds like the car is hollow and has a tin of cans underneath.

heres some youtube links of mine. (I named the first vid xr8 just to see if I could fool my mates.. it worked.. but obviously it wont fool a v8 owner .

The phoon lower airbox is $160 delivered from eBay. The filter is approx $140.

RE: Lower Grille mesh.. You can get it from eBay for approx $90 delivered. There's also a company supplying the lower mesh (with or without badge) to most tuners for approx $75. It's spaced exactly the same as the upper grille and is finished in silver or black powder coating.

Don't go through Ford as they also outsource for it and they are charging approx $180.

My Ford lower grill was only $70 from City Ford. Black powder coated with XR in the grill properly done, not just a badge stuck on.

I never did mine :roflmbo: Have to spend money on the other love of my life.

Don't worry - I'm talking about the boat, not the girlfriend. :ARFiring:
