Guys I am going to WSID next week, so I thought I would dust off the old video camera. The only problem was, how to mount it safely in the car.

I thought about the best way to mount it and decided on the passenger headrest, as it is strong, high and level.

I went to my local camera shop and bought a tilt/pan bit for my camera for $28. I then went to bunnings and bought 2 bolts, wingnuts and washers + some alloy squarebar (1m) and a alloy cutting wheel for my grinder total ($14).

I used some rubber vac hose and split it on one side to line the edges to reduce the vibration. I took the camera around the block for a fang and over a few speed humps and the camera is rock steady.

I did not think to take any pictures of the construction, but from the pics, you should be able to see how simple it is.

I basicly drilled the holes for the headrest, bolts and the camera shoe. I then got the grinder and cut 1/2 the squarebar so that I can clamp it onto the headrest without removing it. I then buffed the edges to clean the rough edges and cut the vac hose on one side. I bolted the whole lot together and it was all done in about 30 mins.

I am happy to lend the camera and mount to any of the guys coming to WSID next wednesday.

Just a few things I thought about after I built the mount. I would use a jigsaw instead of the grinder as it will be neater.

I do not know if this will pass screwterneering, does anyone know how they are with cameras in the cars ?

We will just make sure we are several cars apart so you can have time to get it in your car. It will take about 2 mins to install. The camera shoe has both types of mounting screws also.
