The bonnet weighs about 1/3 of your original. It can be painted without any problems like you say and the carbon look does not show at all. IMO I would only have an unpainted one on a Silhouette or HgAg car. Any other colour and I think you'd be better off having it body colour. As long as primed, undercoated, and topcoated - it should look the same as steel if a good finish had been created.←I was only quoting what I have read from AWC themselves, they don't recommend painting the CF bonnets because the weave in the CF shows through, I say why would you want to paint the CF? It'd look great as is.

Was interested for the weight saving, and for the look of the hump - cause I like it.I was more likely to paint the bonnet.← I agree, looks pretty in black as it makes the car look like some japanese import

I cant wait to get my hands on the rest of the AWC kit if that bonnet is anything to go by. feel free to let me know directly when/where I can get this kit. I've been looking at the tranny style BF GT front bar for ages, mines been damaged from a small prang.Dan

Paint so thin (again, to save weight) you can see the weave.Surely a few coats would do the trick so the weave doesn't show through??
summoner Member 288 Member For: 19y 4m 17d Posted 19/05/06 01:41 AM Share Posted 19/05/06 01:41 AM Bit late to the show.I run 1 of these bonnets and love it. The weight differance is noticable when lifting the bonnet but that's about it. Looks trick as well. On alot of angles it just looks black so it blends it great on the silhoutte car. Pics included. Also takes about 10-15minutes to fit with 2 people and a socket wrench. You also lose the use of the gas struts as ther are no mounting points for them on the bonnet. Before:After:No weave visable:With weave visable:

I think it would look pretty damn hot just the same, I'm not into rice and I would'nt consider it if I thought of it that way at all.I notice AWC have a CF bonnet listed now not clear coated, it's meant to be painted, I wonder if they do these a little differently to hide the weave? I'd leave mine black like yours.
