Manual Or Auto

Well, just took the Turbo with SSS for a spin and I've gotta say that it's no different to other manual auto boxes I've driven - it still feels to me as it's taken the edge off the car a bit.

Feels like it's no quicker than the 200SX in auto guise as well so I'll definitely be going the manual.

I'm with you DZ. I test drove the auto which made me want the manual. I was pretty unimpressed with it after having read all the reviews on how great it was. The box in my folks' Verada felt near as good. Bought the manual and I've been smiling ever since getting into the drivers seat.

Kinda funny the way that worked out. With all the lousy reviews on the manual I wanted to take the manual out for a spin to see if I couldn't live with it - instead I took the auto out and decided I couldn't live with that! :sick:

I Love my manual so much. I had an AU11 XR6 VCT before I got my turbo ute. They feel totally different the shorter throw and shorter shifter height along with having the shifter moved back and closer to thedriver have all combined to help no end. I feel totally in control with the manual and never once considered the auto. I know the auto will better suit many people, but not me . I drive in Melb peak hour traffic every day and the manual does not detract from the whole driving experience in fact it improves it. Save Autos for your nanna or the drag strip.

The manual is great, l love it :P

Never would have been happy with an auto, l really disliked the auto in our TS by the time we decided to sell it. A tiptronic doesnt replace a manual if a manual is what you really like.

I got the manual after coming from an auto AUII XR6. I now feel like I'm actually driving and not just sitting behind the weel. I just love it. Drove the wife's Festiva for the first time after driving the Turbo for a few weeks and nearly broke the gear stick off and put my foot through the floor. :lol:

Hats on fellas

:mole::diggit:

I have never owned an auto and when I order mine, it will be a manual.

What have you all purchased and why ??

Greetings Robbo

I'm so glad your question was finally laid to rest almost a decade later in the great thread of 2011 "The Reality Of A Proper Performance Car". I see you are inactive now but hopefully you got a chance to read Impellor's thread and thus sleep easy at night.

I think a new topic would be in order, shall we now extol the virtues of DSG paddle shift versus central gearshift knobs?

I'll start things off by stating the opinion that DSG is less manly but better for lap times while driving Bathurst, but that a shifter is a more challenging due to needing to remove a hand from the wheel while and thus a more masculine and rewarding experience.

:joy:
