Guest Phantom Guests Posted 05/12/02 08:46 AM Share Posted 05/12/02 08:46 AM The sequential shift is great. You can leave it in auto to cruise around town and save fuel but shift it across for the grunt. The best of both worlds.I had high expectations which have been exceeded. We are all going to spend $40k plus (except for some lucky buggers) for the XR6T. What is $100 in the picture. Go to Hertz and hire a new BA XT with the auto. It's all I needed to do to know that the manual was the way to go...Also to note, I have now been a passenger (not great but take what I can) in both a manual and auto XR6T. I could be wrong, but the manual seemed to have that bite of acceleration that the auto lacked. It was still quick (auto) but it didn't have the wow factor that the manual had, but I was just a passenger alas. I only need to wait till late feb to know for myself.... Clutch is heavier than a lesser car, but not what l would call heavy, you soon get used to it. The gates seem good, a bit tight but l am sure they will loosen. No problems with gears engaging or changing 5-3 etc like l have read. Fairly short throw. l think the manual is great. Now driveline snatch is another issue, there is a dissappointing amount of it. The one major weakness of the car that l can see. Other than that, bloody brilliant

Partly because I'm a lazy bastard and partly because of reviews I've read in mags and on the net. I drove a manual Turbo at the dealer before placing my order but found the box to be a bit notchy and heavy and thinking it could be a bitch in traffic. My current car (EB) is an auto as was the XF before that so I'm pretty used to them by now. I'm not a horsepower head anymore, I love power but I think comfort is just as important these days rather than going down the 1/4 mile two tenths quicker. Guest DZ. Guests Posted 16/12/02 11:50 PM Share Posted 16/12/02 11:50 PM what do you mean by "driveline snatch"? Probably best described as where you lift the clutch up and the entire car seems to lurch uncontrollably forward.

HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 3m 15d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 17/12/02 11:31 PM Share Posted 17/12/02 11:31 PM Have always been a manual driver until the first of the XR's, 94 ED XR6, purchased that car in `99. Ever since with the amount of stop/start BS I go through driving to and fro slavery....(oops I mean work) auto has become the preferred option. Makes it all worth while when you jump into another car that is a manual though, time to have some fun. The Sequential Sports shift is the best of both worlds so that’s what we have ordered. Plus the Wife doesn't have a manual licence :D
