Just read the many reviews. I may be wrong here but I don't think the manual comes out on top in any of them.Don't bother with the five-speed manual unless you really must change your own gears, the clutch is doughy and lifeless, and the heavy gearbox - needed to handle the torque - fights against quick changes. Ford's BTR-sourced Sequential Sport Shift four speed auto is a gem. Gearchanges aren't as smooth as some European autos, but it swaps cogs quickly and gets on with the mumbo, never dropping out of turbo boost range.heres the link to the full articlehttp://www.fastfords.org/bareview.htm

The Tremec five-speed manual is allied with a heavy-duty clutch that requires a firm hand and leg to punt the XR6 Turbo along in the style it demands. The auto easily soaks up the torque and it’s as simple as a quick flick up for a downshift or back for an up shift without having to do what the computerthinks you should be doing.heres the link to the full articlehttp://www.sports-racer.com/pdf/scr4/PowerOn.pdf
Guest DZ. Yeah, l seen that too.An average manual box is still better than a good auto IMHO. In fact for me a "good auto" is an oxymoronA good auto is no substitute for a manual. l am sure the manual in the turbo is fine, it certanly is in the N/A cars. On Friday l (hopefully) will be able to confirm this.
