Purchased the auto.. due to reading so much about it being better over the manual and also hearing that the auto gearbox is better to handle aftermarket mods.

I have never owned an auto and when I order mine, it will be a manual.

What have you all purchased and why ??

Auto is the way to go. Just read the many reviews. I may be wrong here but I don't think the manual comes out on top in any of them.

Don't bother with the five-speed manual unless you really must change your own gears, the clutch is doughy and lifeless, and the heavy gearbox - needed to handle the torque - fights against quick changes. Ford's BTR-sourced Sequential Sport Shift four speed auto is a gem. Gearchanges aren't as smooth as some European autos, but it swaps cogs quickly and gets on with the mumbo, never dropping out of turbo boost range.

Heres another article singing the praises of the auto.

Your gears are a 5-speed manual or the new 4-speed Sequential Sports Shift auto, which I think is the pick of the range. The Tremec five-speed manual is allied with a heavy-duty clutch that requires a firm hand and leg to punt the XR6 Turbo along in the style it demands. The auto easily soaks up the torque and it’s as simple as a quick flick up for a downshift or back for an up shift without having to do what the computer

thinks you should be doing.

I've actually read an article from somewhere - I think it might have been the Age or some other newspaper which actually said the manual was nice and light!

I think it just comes down to personal preference - I still prefer a manual over an auto.

Yeah, l seen that too.

An average manual box is still better than a good auto IMHO. In fact for me a "good auto" is an oxymoron

A good auto is no substitute for a manual. l am sure the manual in the turbo is fine, it certanly is in the N/A cars. On Friday l (hopefully) will be able to confirm this.

Looking forward to hearing your review - I think you'll be the first.

Auto for me. Basically I'm lazy and get annoyed having to constantly use a clutch in traffic.

ditto 'cause I do heaps of driving in city traffic for work.

If that makes me a girl, then pick out a pretty dress for me!!
