Guys, I have two lease vehicles, one that on occasion has had BP e10 put into it. That is the brand name that BP gives to its ULP with 10% Ethanol.

My question relates to the price I am paying when I receive my BP Card statement. Despite the pump price showing (over a period of months) the price varying between $1.09 per litre up to about $1.26 per litre, the statement that I am billed with has each purchase at 90.4 cents per litre. Any ULP or Premium is shown at the pump price, not the e10.

Not that I am complaining seeing that I have been receiving up to 36c per litre discount. I would just like to know why. I have not been able to get any sense out of my lease company nor BP customer info. Is there any Govt rebate for using this stuff or a cap on the excise?

I am intrigued! Anyone use a BP card and used the e10 with similar results?

...... and, I normally run the T on BP Ulitmate 98, can I use the Ethanol :tease: in the T?

Edit.... oops, dropped it by mistake into mods and workshop :spoton: .... can one of the mods move this please!

dont know about the price problem,But I had a look at the BP site and this is what it said

Can I use BP e10?

BP has sold more than 14 million litres of e10 in Australia without recording a single vehicle complaint. Like all of our fuels, BP e10 is backed by the BP Fuels Guarantee and meets national fuel quality standards. Most vehicle manufacturers, including Holden, Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai, approve of the use of e10 in the majority of their models. If you have any doubts, consult your vehicle's manual or contact the manufacturer.

Pre-1986 vehicles that previously used Lead Replacement Petrol should use a higher octane fuel (such as premium unleaded petrol or BP Ultimate) and a valve recession additive rather than Regular Unleaded petrol or e10.

Similarly, vehicles that require a 95 minimum octane fuel should continue using Premium Unleaded petrol or BP Ultimate, as neither Regular Unleaded petrol nor e10 satisfy this requirement.

As fuel containing ethanol cannot mix with water, BP e10 is not suitable for using in marine craft. It may not be suitable for motorcycles with fibreglass fuel tanks (see your manufacturer for further details).

BP e10 should not be used in aircraft of any type.

Will e10 noticeably impact fuel economy?

No, Fuel economy is influenced by many factors, from driving cycles and techniques to tyre pressure and differences in fuel density.

end quote

So dont even think about putting BPs e10 in your T as the fuel does not come close to the required 95ron that the XR6T needs to run happly

Being a lease car it will be paid in pre tax dollars so that will equate for a 10% difference but yours seem to be more so not sure what else it could be!?!?!

But I know one thing............. Stuffed if I would be telling anyone :spoton:

No, that whole pre-tax dollar thing is applied in processing to pay the bill. This is the direct statement from BP that I give to the pay people to pay the bill using salary sacrifice. .... so yes, at the end of the day I am getting an even further discount of only paying 51.5% of the 90.4c due to using pre tax dollars and then getting the GST refunded.

So... in essence, I end up paying:

90.4 x .515 = 46.5c

then I get the GST component refunded on the full 90.4c per litre = 8.2c

Therefore: 46.5-8.2 = 38.3c per litre

Damn, gotta be happy with that. I love novated leases....
