Having talked to a few Americans about this they want the Pursuit so bad, probably the most of any Ford Australia Model, being a small 'Truck' with a 'big' 5.4L

Seeing Ford Aus Vehicals in the USA would be great to see but they cannot be converted to LHD in there current platford, maybe the 2007 Falcon will be a global car not just AUS?

There's a not insubstantial issue of UAW... the mighty United AutoWorkers is the union representing many of the workers who work for the Big Three (Ford, GM and DC)... given that Ford and GM are busy shutting down plants and laying off many UAW folk in the US... now may not be a good time to try bringing in Ford's from 'Someplace Else' lest there be sentiment that their jobs got 'exported.'

The lightly lamented VP Late model camira was apparently styled on the basis that it was to be sold as a 'Buick' in the US (which explains the slab-sided and particularly fussy details) and although the Monaro has gone state-side it's in incredibly small numbers (but enough to cause GM to rethink about importing it again so the next GTO will probably be made in the US... which makes no sense given that the Elizabeth plant makes cars at a breakeven point much lower than the US)...

It's called NIH syndrome... Not Invented Here... and it's crazy when I can buy a BMW made in South Africa, a Jeep from Austria and a Merc from Alabama!

The unions are half the problem as to why the US car makers are in so much debt, all the benifits, huge retirement packages and pay rises workers keep getting because of the union.

The other problem is they build sh*tty cars. :spoton:

Hmm, interesting reading.

The problem is that Americans are 'fitter and turners', that is, they will attempt to fit the cars into their lineup, and in the process turn them into cr*p

Good Read , thanks for the link harvyk :spoton: One only wonders the adulation an auto BF Phoon would recieve. We should be concerned about the long term viablity of the models that we all love today, what with increasing fuel costs, FOMCO struggling globally and poor ole OZ a relatively small market rationalisation cometh :fool:

What happened to the guy from the US that was trying to import a Barra 6T.. Seems to have disappeared with no follow up....

Would be nice if they import a few to the US and Eat V8 gets a drive.... Then at least he will know what we are talking about on this site....

Thanks for sharing it anyway mate.....
