I never thought I'd say this but I do not enjoy the sight of a split skirt!:blink:

What I am refering to is the annoying habit of my leather skirt thingy that surrounds my gearstick continually splitting. It seems always to split on the console side not the seat side - if that makes sense.

Has anyone else had this pain in the skirt - and can anyone come up with a solution?

My lovely XR6T is only 18 months old and I have had to get Ford to replace it 3 :pooh: times! Frustrating to say the least!

Appreciate your assistance.

TELL them (not ask) to replace it with the 6 Speed Boot and Ring which is made of much more durable leather material. They did this for me the first time. They will need to get you the 6 speed ring to match the smaller diameter boot (the ring will be in the 6 speed knob package). They should also replace your gear knob.

Must be a batch of bad ones. Had mine 2.5 years and it looks as good as new!

Mind you, mine gets a good deal of lubricant on it. Will have to check with the girlfriend to find out what she uses
