Hi to all,

I have browsed this site for about a year now and find it very imformative and a good laugh at some of the comments

.I am thinking about getting a BA turbo(again).I test drove one last year,it was a 02 model and when the turbo cut in ,put it this way,you couldn't miss it unless you were deaf as a post because it was so noisy,whistling..loved it.Yesterday I test drove a 04 model.Very quick but quite as a mouse. You could not hear the turbo at all.

Is this ok?Does this sound normal?

Who better to ask than you guys.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

hi,

Thanks for replying.

Both about the same amount of kms..35000.

Both looked and went pretty much the same.

Both standard I think?but I'm no expert..

noisy or whistling with the standard BOV is not necessarily a good thing. It could have loose piping which is causing boost leaks. I'd go with the silent one.. if u want the nice wooosh sound then get yourself an aftermarket vent-to-atmosphere BOV.

Check the 02 model and see if there is a cold air intake or something else which could be causing the increased turbo noise.

Just my 2c

The later models have a heavy soundproofing blanket against the firewall (on the engine bay side) that cuts down a lot on the engine noise. Not sure when they started fitting them.
