With a few power and suspension mods would be a nice car for the missus.

Cripes I would even take it to the shops for milk on the very odd occasion :spoton:

I'm sorry to sidetrack this thread with a really dopey question, but what is "torque steer"?

This is one of very few technical questions I know. Comes from all of my years of driving front wheel drive cars. All little hatchbacks.

Front wheel drive cars get there power from the front wheels connecting to the roadway creating traction and the pulling power to move the vehicle. Under heavy acceleration this power is transferred back through the steering wheel causing the steering wheel to pull to one side (steer effect) under the load of the power (torque) of the vehicle. Therefore when this occurs it is called torque steer.

Rear wheel drives dont suffer from this for the obvious reason that the rear wheels are not connected to any steering mechanisims and the torque effect is absorbed through the rear suspension.

I doubt the focus XR5 will cause the xr6t sales to drop much.. they're 2 totally different cars.

If a FWD has an LSD, torque steer is minimal and I am assuming that the XR5T has one. My Integra Type R had an LSD and I never actually recall experiencing torque steer in it, even when flogging it around Wakefield a heap of times. :spoton:

I personally don't like the look of the Focus, so the XR5T is not an option for me.

Still, its about time something comes on the market to lower prices of the other 2L turbo cars on the market.

XR5T doesn't have an LSD.

What's the figures stack up like to the XR6T?

0-100?

1/4 mile?

0-100 is about 6.5 seconds. Not sure about 1/4 mile, but I am guessing mid 14's??

I am sure we will see some test in the mags soon! :spoton:
