I was wanting to do some large customizations to a car but have no idea where to go in sydney. The car is a 1993 Lexus SC400, and I'd want to do the following:

- retrim the seats with leather (I know a few places for this, but recommendations would be great)

- replace equipement in the dash/centre console (it looks out dated, I'd want to modernise it a bit).

- turn it into a convertible (this is the big one, no idea if its even possible).

If anyone can mention names of places or websites which deal with this kind of stuff, I'd be very greatful.

Cheers

Without being rude but stating the obvious join a Toyota forum you'll get a lot better info, than from a bunch of Ford pundit's.....

thanks anyway. (I wouldn't dream of doing that to an xr6t!)

I've located a suitable lexus forum so guess I'll ask there. Just thought I'd try here first as Im already registered, and know I'll usually get good advice here. :tease:

that's awfully assuming of you :smilielol:

Or was that sarcasm?

not sarcasm at all. I've had a lot of help when asking about xr6t's and phoons. Now that my 3rd attempted order of one of those two has been cocked up, I've decided to try buying something else.

is it a 3.0 v6, tt or v8, if its a v8 does it have the emf screen?

in relation to convertable its not really worth it in my opinion.

if you want pictures of convertable sc 400 I can send them to you because I have quite a few.

wow you are going from ordering a T or phoon to getting an SC400? WTF?

I can tell you from personal experience that you'll most likely be disappointed. I went from an SC400 to a T. Why? Because I had the V8 SC400 with all the hot-up bits (it was also the limited with Leather and EMS screen etc) and I took it to WSID only to run a high 15. What a slug.

In terms of performance if I was to get another Lexus I'd get the twin turbo 6 instead - atleast they can get up and boogie!! "Having said that the SC400's are getting pretty old now - the CD's skip, the heaters don't work, the radio reception sucks because you need to fit an FM expander, the touchscreens are starting to go etc etc. Biggest drama is usually the suspension, especially if fitted with the air suspension.

Anyway - the best forum for good advice is soarercentral - it is absolutely chockas with info and ask for Neil in the ACT if you want a good car.

If you want a really good car get a T off someone on the forum that has spent the money to get all the good bits on it.
