I would have thought 2nd gear would have lasted for longer.

I guess that's why when I come to a stop in Sports Sequential manual mode in my BF 6 speed auto that instead of dropping back to 1st gear (like in my previous BA XR6 4 speed auto), it drops back to only 2nd gear. I asked Ford if this was normal behaviour, as my BA dropped back to 1st stopping at the lights, and they said it was. 1st gear in Sports Sequential manual mode definitely does not last long before I have to shift up to 2nd gear.

Evil, can you take off in 2nd OK or does it drop to 1st as soon as you accelerate?

Hi BFXR6T,

Yes, you can take off in 2nd okay, but it's not as fast as if you push the stick forward into 1st gear before you take off.

I've not tried stalling it in 2nd gear for a take off.

Same as this one http://www.ford.com.au/about/newsroom/2005...-20050817-3.asp

But still no mention of top speeds.

One thing that you haven't allowed for Lawsy is the ECU trying to keep everything under control.  Doesn't the ZF have different rev limiter points for different gears or something? :spoton:

Yeah, under max load the 1-2,2-3 and 3-4 increases the rev limit by 200 - 250rpm so you get absolute max acceleration from each gear.

Regardless, the actual rev limiter, when it is not in this transient state, is 6000rpm. I'd say its fairly safe to run with that.

Thanks guys.

I too would have thought 2nd would be higher, but I can understand these low speeds in the manual.

EvilDaifu or Bionic, can either of you confirm if the BF XR6T speeds are the same as the manual or closer to the Typhoon speeds?

Cheers

Simon

Yeah 2nd and 3rd definatly rev out alot higher. I havnt properly checked it but 2nd goes over 100KPH to about 110KPH.

Hi Guys, Are the xr6t and the fpv turbo 6 speed auto the same?

Sounds like the fpv trans has been beefed up.

  Cheers Chris

Yes they are the same bar the tuning of the shifts. The F6 has a more agressive shift pattern and shift speeds are a bit quicker.

At the moment there really isn't anything that needs to be done until you go well over 400rwkw.

There really isn't much you can do to them either - what are your plans?
