This will enable you to do exactly as you mention above and have the tuner just tune your car with whatever mods you have. Of course, using this option won't allow you to have different maps, but many people don't see this as a negative and want a "go-fast" tune only. And for all the smart 's - it won't be here in 2 weeks - or will it?? Basically he gets into the ford pcm via drilling a hole into the computer, attaching a lead into it, and then adjusts settings just as we do with the edit via his laptop. It gives you choices to swap the tune for bad fuel, services etc. You cannot lose your tune by having an updated FoMoCo tune flashed over the top of it, as you can always download again from the flashbox. If the factory upgrade is inadvertently flashed into your Holden/HSV at service time, then most guys (who haven't bought the tuning software for themselves) would have to go back to the tuner to get a reflash. On the flipside, it takes the tuned a lot longer to tune as the new settings have to be downloaded into the flashbox and then into the car.More choices in tuning products will be available soon which will ultimately benefit us, the enthusiasts. The one I'm referring to has been having good results with the LS1's for some time now.
