it also seemed to have a problem with the idle, dropping to like 250rpm when you put the clutch in..

had some time today and it was pissin me off, so I checked it out..

see pics to see what I found

what should I do now because this is BULLsh*t..

If you have some tools I would try and get the belt over the top ofthat pulley.

You will need to rotate the belt adjuster pulley to do this which reqiures a 3/8 drive rachet or bar to rotate it anti clockwise.

But do not drive it to much as it will slice though the belt.

Ian.

How dumb are some of these guys that are working on cars these days.

the problem is that the grooves are all worn off the belt because that's the bit that rubs, and the back of the belt has grooves in it now because it is rubbing on the idler!!

what should I say to the service centre because it needs a new belt?

Nobody know nothing about your Ford like a Ford Technician

That is pathetic, you should get a new belt and a appology

Get the fwits to come out to you to rectify the car as it is undriveable. You could fix it yourself however, as mentioned, the belt is shagged. Or phone them, tell them the car is on the way to them on a flatbed and they are going to pick up the bill for the towing.

I would lodge a formal complaint with the Ford head office....

All cars are supposed to be roadtested/run after each service/repair...

That kind of workmanship is just unforgivable. :innocent:

What if someone did that to their vehicle.... it would be an entirely different story

Hope you get it fixed with the minimal of fuss.

Adrian

With a good deal of anger and amazement at the sheer bloody stupidity.

Demand a replacement tensioner. Argue that if you were to buy a used car and saw marks across a tensioner, would it cast doubts in your mind as to the competence of the owner of the vehicle and how the vehicle had been serviced. Anyone would suspect that the home mechanic made that sort of fuggup rather than the service department.

I had the exact same sort of issue when they replaced my CV joints. The fugwit in the service dept had used a goddamn big hammer to force the shaft back in creating a huge burr on the end of the axle. Result, couldn't get the brake disk off as it was all mushroomed. The service dept saw my point of view.... after they had accused me of causing the damage.

I'd approach them first up Tuesday morning with the 3/8th drive wrachet in hand and a head full of steam. Hard to believe they allowed it out of the workshop like that - then again I can, and that's why my phoon will never see the inside of a Ford dealership except for warranty work.

Far out! :spoton: There is no way that driving would have done that either.. They just had another apprentice work on your vehicle. Funny you should have a problem with your belt, when I picked mine up (Phoon), I went straight to my mechanic (just to check body more than anything) and he found instantly that my belt had been rubbing, and small chunks of the belt were coming off in about the same location as you. (There is also a leak in the aircon gas cylinder but that's another thread). I then approached my ford dealer about this problem and was told that this is a normal occurance with the Bamk2 (despite my previous series 1 never having done this) and nothing was done about it. Just like my damn squealing brakes.. Damn amatures, I just want to use my own mechanic but I am trying to keep my patience to keep my 5 yr warrenty..

Are you listening FORD and FPV dealers.. You come here to void peoples warrenties for a damn exhaust but are you listening to this! This is the kind of sh*t that makes people by an SS or HSV, or something euro. Fix up your problems and train apprentices properly before you get them to work on our cars and slug us top dolla for servicing. :spoton:
