Dont know how many of you have been following my bent rods post about replacing engine and now turbo...

But I have another issue regarding the brakes / brake shudder... That has left an even worse taste in my mouth...!!!

After Jarvis having my car for the bent rods issue it was also due to be serviced... now firsly they have told me that the rotors are too thin and need replacement...

I told them yes of course they are you idiots (ford) has machined them twice already... now they agreed and said they would be replaced under warranty...

This is where the bullsh*t starts.. becasue they also told me that the brake pads only had 3mm left and I would have to replace them as well...I thought what the???

I was confused as I knew that they had replaced them before at the 75k service under warranty... and now only 15k later they needed replacing again!!!!

This doesnt make sense to me??? how come the original ones lasted to 75 K atleast and now these will have to be replaced every 15K!!!! They are also $300.00 for the pair I have been told... although he did reduce it to $250.00 for me in the end...

So what I can see is that ford have fixed the brake shudder problem by installing extremely expensive and soft brake pads are are going to make all of us pay for it!!!!! I am absolutely Pissed about this and I will be contacting cosumer affairs and taking it further...anyone else want to join me??? Has anyone else actually had a decent fix done by ford for this??

Anyone any comments help... I will never buy a freekin ford again for sure!!!!!

I found this out about the Ford fix a while ago and posted the details.

Yes they machine the pads and change to a different compound for the pads. But this is suppost to stop the shudder reappearing.

I had a BA XR6 for 12 months with very bad chronic brake shudder. Nothing Ford did resolved it as it would reappear after about 5000 to 8000km after being machined. I don't have the BA XR6 anymore. The day the lease ended it was at Ford being repaired because the brakes had failed. Something about the brake line needing replacing. About 3 days before the lease was up, I braked at 60km/h and the foot sunk to the floor but the car kept rolling forward - albeit a coming to slow stop under manual foot pressure  Don't even want to think what would have happened if I was driving at 100km/h  Because they were taking so long to repair it (and did not supply me with a courtesy car), I said to them "Don't worry, you can keep it." On the 3rd day, I picked up the BF XR6T (from the same dealership which made it easy to transfer my gear from the BA to the BF). Thank goodness the Territory brakes on the BF don't seem to suffer from brake shudder.

bendix ultimates (kevlar material, exelent braking even when punished hard) from $158 to $189 from your local repco.

much cheaper option, much better brake pads.

it amases me ppl continually complain about the brake suhdder on the BA, when for a total of $480 you can get rid of the problem once and for all,

$300 for DBA slotted rotors, 180 for bendix ultimate brake pads.

I know youre gonna say "warranty mate" but how much do you value your time of having to take your car to the dealer time and time again only to have the same problem re-occur.

I dunno about you but $480 seems worth it

one problem I see in all this is the word Jarvis, I haven't had very good experiences with them in the past and now travel the other side of town to maughan thiem whom see to be doing alright so far.
