Hi Guys,

Has anyone here sucessfully changed the oil in there T56? I'm wanting to stick some transmax Z in there but ive read that if you use the std fill location you dont get enough oil in and the box then makes more noise than the std oil :nono:

This leaves the reverse light switch to use as a fill point, only problem is I cant get the  thing out! Its a 22mm nut but there is no room to move the spanner to undo the thing :nono:

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the reverse light switch without breaking anything? or is there another way to do the oil change???

Cheers,

shock

I hear ya ShockF6.

It is a dog of a thing to get out and even worse if you have twin cats in the way!!!

Using the open end of a spanner you usually can crack the thread and then flip the spanner and get another bite. It is usually lose enough by then to remove using your fingers.

I’ve only done this on a hoist and it’s a dog so I don’t like you chances with just a jack under it as you need all the room you can get.

Measure out 4.8 litres and make sure it’s full.

Good luck!!!

:spoton:

Please stick some stands under it and don't rely just on the jack.

BUGGER!!

the only reason I didn't want to just take it somewhere to get done is that I'll bet 99% of mechanics would just use the normal fill point till it overflows then say the jobs done :gooff:

if its a :spoton: of a job on hoist then I really cant see myself being able to get it done without one (I don't have that much patience while sliding around on my back under the car :spoton: )

Does anyone know of a place in Melbourne I can pay for the labour only (I've got 8L of the oil) to get the oil changed CORRECTLY????

Are we sure that the 'fill plug' isnt the right level? Has anyone asked Mal Woods?

I would be cracking that fill plug open - and seeing if the oil starts pouring out.

If it does - nip it straight back up, and work out plan B.

It it doesnt - then that sounds like the right fill level to me?

A full 4 litres is an acceptable quantity, and what we supply, or filling till it trickles back out the reverse light switch is about the 4.8L. Best trick, the rubber cap on the reverse light switch can be prised off, and then you can use a ring spanner. Get it hot before you drain it. The factory fill level is 3.5 litres, and is not really enough. This was set when the box was designed, and the main case has never been retooled. Ben.
