NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 5m 9d Posted 10/04/06 01:14 PM Author Share Posted 10/04/06 01:14 PM coil pack is something I have not changed but certainly considered (since they have been unplugged a number of times now this would not be totally unfesiable). I would like to be a little more certain before going out and trying to replace all of the coil packs (can't imagine that would be cheap).

Adam Here since the start... Lifetime Members 10,282 Member For: 21y 9m Gender: Male Location: Victoria Posted 11/04/06 12:51 AM Share Posted 11/04/06 12:51 AM An AU is a little different. They run a 6 point coil pack with actual spark plug leads running off it to the plugs. The BA has an individual coil over plug setup. An ignition problem is a possibility...Take the crossover pipe off and coil cover and look for any problems with the wiring. Of course to test the coils themselves you'll need more professional help.
MercuryT Member 53 Member For: 19y 5m 7d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 11/04/06 02:05 AM Share Posted 11/04/06 02:05 AM They diagnosed my faulty coil pack by plugging the computer into the OBD port and then me taking them for a drive. As soon as the car started mis firing, he saw the issue with the number 2 coil pack. Back to the workshop and 20 minutes later all sweet. Hasn't missed a beat again. It is pretty simple for Ford to check the spark using their little handheld tool.Could be worth ago??
cqae Member 229 Member For: 21y 2m 20d Posted 11/04/06 02:14 AM Share Posted 11/04/06 02:14 AM a coil pack is not going to cause a lack of power as such. if it fails you will get a lack of power, but its also gonna have a solid missfire. I would suggest hooking up a vac guage & see what is happeneing first. when the fault occurs is nice to see how much boost you are getting. also try scanning ecu for codes, might be one stored.
