Lots of variables...Again - best of luck and wish I could be more help!cheers, Ben.

I would suggest hooking up a vac guage & see what is happeneing first. when the fault occurs is nice to see how much boost you are getting. also try scanning ecu for codes, might be one stored.←If you are going to scan for codes why not plug it in and take it for a drive as mercuryT did.you can learn a lot from a scanner.most of them log data so when the car plays up you hit a trigger button and it has already recorded the data.return to the workshop and look at the data just before the trigger.BINGO.it will give you pressures, temps, rpm, throttle position and much more. NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 2m 27d Posted 11/04/06 11:47 AM Author Share Posted 11/04/06 11:47 AM Really appreciate the ideas and the advice guys - I think with some of the ideas thus far I should be able to nut it out. Kawerx, I am definitely keen to try your suggestion tomorrow if I can get the car into a Ford servuce agent (I am sure some of them would be hesitent given it is moded). If I cannot get a conclusive result from the scan I will be trying a number of the other suggestions. If anything my pain with this may end up helping others quickly diagnose this kind of problem in the future (my car is a 11/02 model, has done 96K and has prototype stickers on particular parts so must have been on of the first ones built).I thought about the cat convertor since a few times I thought it My initiat theory re: the throttle was supported by something I saw on the way home tonight (the engine light came on for a fewseconds under full throttle which BTW was pathettically slow). I have read in the manual that this light is "Throttle accelerator system fault indicator: indicates there is a throttle fault present. Have the vehicle checked by an authorised Ford Dealer as soon as possible" Whilst the book says that it will only stay illuminated when the fault will effect performance and will flash if not effectig performance, I wonder how it regards what performance is (especially considering the modifications). I am wondering if this is either the throttle body or pedal box having some kind of fault? Surely the new TPS would not also be dicked? I used contact cleaner on the contacts and thoroughly cleaned out the throttle body when I was working on it. Maybe the actual motor that drives the butterfly is deficient in some way? Joel. kawerx TerriGhia Donating Members 206 Member For: 18y 9m 21d Posted 11/04/06 12:13 PM Share Posted 11/04/06 12:13 PM you may be on to something with the throttle.I dont think ford would be negative about working on a modded car.many of them are car nuts too.If no luck at ford try and find a good workshop that does efi diagnosing and repairs. many workshops now have scan tools able to read the CAN set up on the BA's.dont be scared to ask a few questions.find someone who is not going to just start changing parts.make sure you tell them what you have already changed or checked.it is possible tps has gone again.I think there is another thread tonight about this on another T. NighEve Member 193 Member For: 20y 2m 27d Posted 13/04/06 09:45 AM Author Share Posted 13/04/06 09:45 AM Update640 dollars poorer and still f*cked! I am seriously angry... Took it to ford, got the codes read - pedal assessmbly apparently needed to be replaced (didn't seem to far off the money in view of my initial theory). Go back later in the evening to pick it up, mechanic gone, paperwork saying it is all fixed and the car test drive fine. I pay the money and take the car as they are closing the service counter, NO f*ckING DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!! I am going to pull the CAT out tomorrow and I will strip the whole f*cking thing if I have to, clearly I cannot rely on the so called experts to diagnose and fix a problem. They will be hearing from me on Tuesday...Joel.
