Completely standard at the time

lowered with with King Springs

Standard bump stops still in place

Heathcote Raceway (far lane... aka DEATH VALLEY)

At the burnout... I would put it down to over revving in the burnout but I don't know...

I've done 1 CV this way.

what tyre type(slicks or road) and tyre size at time of failures?

20" wheels with 225/35/20 tyres...

And I believe Nizpro do a change over upgraded CV... probably best to ask bcl as I imagine he has been through a few too... but only guessing.

Nizpro have halted their production as well, untill they come up with a new fix!! this is what simopn told me last week. Brians inner thingy bit inside the cage split so they have to redesign them again I guess.

I finally come up with the money for a new set but cant get em :( oh well.

It appears as though the only choice we have atm is to buy an original or get something done in billet from somewhere.

Broke drivers side at WSID, Auto, lowered, Street tyres. Second run for the night, wheelspin in 2nd gear, BANG! ... At least got one run in with wheelspin for a 12.2sec pass.

Hey guys, I'm getting pissed off with braking CV's. I'd like to know who else has broken them. I'd also like to know the details of the car and how they broke. Sort of like as follows.

I might add, prior to the CV failing the car had a driveline vibration, most noticable between 90-110km/h, which progressively got worse in the span of 20,000kms.

As F6_Tornado mentioned, washing the grease out and running diff/transaxle oil in the CV will probably rectify the problem. There are two issues with these inner CV's.

1. "inner race cracks in the root of the ballrace right where the Circlip groove finishes? Bad Design, bad engineering!" as mentioned by F6.

2. Lubrication failure causing #1 to occur. The CV grease does not provide lubrication where it is required, and basically pushes to the outer end of the CV, allowing the ball bearings to run metal-on-metal on the inner and outer race.

My new LHS driveshaft and my existing RHS driveshaft have transaxle oil pumped in them. Axle hop has reduced (although it has increased again with the installation of the stock shocks and springs) over what it had before, indicating some gain in lubrication.

Redesigning the CV's without addressing the lubrication issue will continue to result in CV failures.

What life span does the transaxle oil have over the grease?

Logic tells me once it heats up it'll tend to 'leak' fairly easily....I guess that's not so?

Lifespan would probably be longer than no oil and a busted CV ;)

I check my boots weekly - no leaking so far.
