Hey guys, I'm getting pissed off with braking CV's. I'd like to know who else has broken them. I'd also like to know the details of the car and how they broke. Sort of like as follows.

Geea.

auto sedan

380rwkw's

lowered with 2/3's bump stop removed

Heathcote raceway

Launching @ 3400rpm

I've done 3 CV's this way.

If everyone who has broken a CV could do the same I'd really appreciate it.

Geea.

Wash the grease out and put some synthetic oil them.

When they break did you notice the inner race cracks in the root of the ballrace right where the Circlip groove finishes? Bad Design, bad engineering!

XR6T8_U.

T5 Manual sedan

Completely standard at the time

lowered with with King Springs

Standard bump stops still in place

Heathcote Raceway (far lane... aka DEATH VALLEY)

At the burnout... I would put it down to over revving in the burnout but I don't know...

I've done 1 CV this way.

Removing the bump stop or even cutting it down will make things worse as you now put the cv through more angle and the balls run out of track

I would have thought the opposite...

When the car is lowered your bringing the diff down so it would decrease the angle on the shaft between the diff and the hub.
