Turbo Flutter and Blow Off Valves

The flutter is from a non working BOV. The flutter noise comes from the turbo through the airfilter. If you have a aftermarket BOV from the standard Bosch ones and it still makes the flutter noise, it can mean the spring is set to hard or the BOV is to small for the boost the car is making.

I removed the cone on my FG and it made the spool noise in the turbo sound alot louder. So it must silence the spool induction noises alot.

so if I wanted to make the car dead silent, without the high SPOOL NOISE and the futter. I would a ) upgrade the bov to a aftermarket one with an adjustable spring ( im thinking gfb stealth bov? )and isntead of running the pod strait from the turbo enclose it in a box.

that would help sounding it dead quiet?

is this correct?

no offense to the guys that wanna have the whooooshhh sounds n stuff ! =)

I love these BOV threads, they go on forever.

After I removed the pipe with the cone in it the turbo spool sounds awesome!

I already had a blocked BOV so replacing that pipe with the Rapid one increases the flutter noise too.

I wonder if anyone is interested in making an FAQ to BOV's and include a sound board so people know all the different sounds

:stupid: good idea....also need a final answer to lifes most debated question...no not what is the meaning of life..but...is dose really actually bad for a turbo or not.... PLEASE DONT DEBATE THIS HERE, IM ONLY SAYING IT AS A QUESTION WHICH NEEDS TO BE ANSWERED (NOT HERE) :roflmbo: Edited by osonvs

:spit: YOU MUST WANNA PUNCH ON MATE! LET'S TAKE IT OUTSIDE!!!!!

Hahaha... mine flutters with stock system due to having 3x the boost and probably due to an old BOV not releasing the gas as fast as a new stock Bosch would.

I like it and enough people say it's not doing damage so I will leave it as is :)

but I thought blocking the BOV was bad because of :blaah: long story short it make the turbo slow down due to reverse pressure :roflmbo:

The best one I've heard yet... it could even make the turbo spin backwards :roflmbo:

But in all seriousness please dont debate it here!!! :bopp:

on a side not which end of the BOV do I block off again? is this legal? is there a blow off valve that will make the flutter sound? how do I make my car do the fully sick dose that VL's have? :roflmbo:

I know I'm taking the piss, sorry im at work and am really bored

stever your gf likes anything :turboboink::roflmbo:

lets not debate the dose and what stevers gf likes here....although I do like the turbo spinning backwards one :w00t2:

The only thing dose does is create turbo lag by the turbo slowing down and creating a bubble of pressure elsewhere blah blah blah blah buy a vl if you have no balls and dont like getting laid blah blah blah yes there is a BOV which has a flutter to it....get your BOV and get one of those wind turbine things kids have put it infront of the BOV and away you go............damnit cant think of anything else to write and im bored like rusty at work and dont start getting paid for another half hour...crappers

I just installed the plazmaman intake kit (air box, pod filter) an dthe air muffler replacement. The car is otherwise unmodified at this stage but it makes a lot of noise. Massive spool noise which varies greatly depending how hard your pushing and a loud gobble gobble style noise when you back off..

A have a few pics on another post. Here's one of them. I might take a vid later but if anyone is around S.E melbourne and wants to hear it I may be able to meet up sometime.

The less piping between the turbo and the filter the more intake noise. the less piping between the blowoff valve and the turbo intake the more noise.

It sure got a bit louder with the rapid 4" intake and 38mm plazmaman blowoff valve I fitted, quadruple the boost might help too!
