Effective two days ago in NSW:

The speeding laws are:

Drive 30+ over the limit, automatic three month instead of one month suspension

Drive 0-15km over, it is up from 1 to 2 points.

Drive 130kmh regardless of the speed zone, instant loss of licence for one month.

Drive 45+ over - six month suspension automatically plus a strike against the habitual offenders scheme - i think with this it is three strikes & you lose your licence for like 10 years or something.

fun fun fun.. shame i only have 1 point left till march next year :(

I also heard on the news that speed camera fines were going to go up. Didn't here the whole thing so not sure when or by how much.

1 point to march next year and a new XR6 turbo. Mate good luck!

I thought I heard of some "radar" type detection device on A Current Affair. I didn't see it personally, but if it's legal it could be worth picking one up in your situation.

I dont know about rest of the country but detectors are illegal here in VIC and I believe they are confiscated and you get a $600 fine.

What you saw is not a radar detector, and therefore is legal for use in NSW.

It is linked to a satelite which sends you information on fixed speed cameras, red light cameras and various other things. Now, considering RTA has a list of fixed speed cameras on their website, I can't see how can it be illegal.

I didn't see the ad and assumed it was a detector based on other posts.

You're right though, it should not be illegal since it's just another form of transmitting the info similar to broadcasts on MMM FM (or what ever)
