I wouldn't be opting for a manual at all, be it 5sp or 6sp.

Manual trans are dinosaurs!

They only belong in classic muscle cars of the 60's.

Edit alone can change a few trans characteristics (line pressure and shift speeds) on the BA Mk1 4 sp auto to mainain good driveability under light load, and yet deliver reliable and fast performance for up to 270 rwkw (good for 12 sec qtrs)

Just a bit of internal work on the 4sp auto, and it's capable of handling well over 350 rwkw. Sure I'm an old fart, no-one will deny that these new computerised autos are absolutely fantastic, and the 6sp auto is even better.

Every modified manual XR6T member here has had issues with getting the power down effectively, keeping boost pressure up during gear changes, and getting reliability from clutches or rear axles (severe axle tramp)

Autos are a much better option (in my opinion)

And HPF are excellent in setting up the car as you desire.

Tell Rob what you want, and he will deliver.

I am a happy HPF customer.

I also think APS gear is pretty good too.

Thanks for that, Im a bit of an old fart(not that old) myself and would prefer manual, but these new fang dang autos seem pretty good as well. See how we go.. Im not after big numbers as its just gonna be an every dayer and also so I can throw my golf clubs and buggie in the boot as well. The xr is a very different car to the wrx but I still love the wrex. Its not made for launch take offs as I never dump it... winding roads see ya later and dirt/muddy roads mmmmm.(not afraid to get it dirty...amazing what a gernie can clean)

Just time for a change. Original donk 235,000 kms with 172kw at all fours isnt too bad I reckon. Going to get some zeds just finished 12 hr night shift and do it again in 12 hrs. :msm:
