Running Rough

My MK2 T has gradually been running rough and spluttering when accelerating. Fuel consumption has gradually increased by around 3L/100k. Took it to Ford for 30k service and of course they couldn't find any kind of miss or anything. As soon as I took it out there driveway it started again...typical. They said bring it back if it does it but I got the impression they they were a bunch of clowns that didn't give a crap.

Is there somewhere I can go in Sydney where the mechanics are keen to fix a problem and get it running in tune again??

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try getting the throttle body cleaned out. Pretty common fault on these cars that's causes rough running. Do you have an aftermarket airfilter installed by anychance?

I do have a K&N Filter and F6 CAI...would that add to the issue somehow???

Nothing to do with the F6 CAI just the oil off the filter finding it's way to the throttle body.

is this true about the filter causing the rough running???

Yup "excessive" air filter can find its way into the air intake system and Gum up the sensors and air passages in the throttle body. There very easy to clean yourself with some Contact/Electrical parts cleaner. or Carby Cleaner. I'd prefer to use the contact or electircal parts cleaner as it a bit less harsh than carby cleaner. You just need to remove the cross over plenum from the throttle body and give the butterfly a squirt and open it by hand and give the throttle body internals a squirt then let it evaporate and put it back together. Just be sure you get the rubber joiner on the throttle body and plenum correctly so you dont get a boost leak.
