I am not sure how to deal with this problem?Does anyone else get this? Is it normal? It does not seem to affect the cars performance, but how would I know if it has been slowly doing this over time?I am reluctant to take it to Ford as they are normally a pain in the posterior.I have gone to "Ford Service" on several occasions, the last being about 5 warranty issues including a rattle coming from the front right of the car, presumably a loose heat shield or something of the like...Anyway they said they will charge me to find the rattle as they are not covered under warranty! I said it was BS and to go ahead and check the heat shielding....Anyway I went to pick up my car and the service rep said everything was fixed and they found that the right engine mount had failed and they would need to order a part in to fix it.To make a long story short you have to state the bleeding obvious or you will never get a result. If the turbo is normal I don't want to be out another day or two to have the Service Department tell me they couldn't find it!If someone has had a similar problem with Turbo Noise please let me know what it may be and what you did to fix or not fix it.Thanks heapsWade

Check the hose that goes from the cooler (just near the battery) up to the crossover pipe. This may be not connected fully. Check the obvious first (watch out it gets pretty warm down there).Otherwise it may just be the sound it's supposed to make?

I would suggest that it is a similar sound to what I read in a previous post about the "wheel" compressor or other, touching the turbo case.I know what a turbo sounds like and my previous car a charade, didn't make this sound, but that's not to say this one doesn't.I will check the piping and see what that unveils and perhaps get ford to look at it as they listen to them all the time......PS in addition, I suppose the clunking in the rear end when starting from a stop is supposed to be there?wade

Bam XR Member 10 Member For: 18y 10m 26d Posted 05/04/06 06:50 AM Share Posted 05/04/06 06:50 AM Is it both accelerating and decelerating? If so it could be a prob with the turbo, but if only on the way up and its not too major, it will just be the turbo spooling.

MKI's used to have this quite often and FoMoCo does have a fix for it.

If your anywhere near Chadstone in melbourne send me a PM and I'll have a listen and tell you what I think.Geea.
