You will also need a Diff (if it doesnt have LSD), traction control module etc... seriously more money that it's worth. If you wanted to convert it completely you would need rear window electrics installed (and door trim to match), exhaust changed........... what else is there that's different

If your driving a BA XR6 in vic on your P's and your pulled up there is a fair chance they'll ask you to pop the bonnet and if the see the Turbo engine they will go you regardles of what your rego sticker says.

Yeah I'll keep looking into everything and get prices. I'm not really phased by the electrics inside the car and stuff like that. Just engine, computer and driveline.

Buy a turbo, remove the badges. Less pain and cheaper exercise.

Is there much in the way of wiring differences to worry about?

Having bought my car brand new 2 years ago, selling it for a 15-20k loss just to get a turbo doesn't seem all that appealing.

You might lose money selling your NA, but the T you buy would have devalued as well - so you shouldnt be any worse off.

Personally, I think anyone thinking of modding an NA to be a T is not doing themselves any favours, you lose warranty, void your insurance, I am sure you would have to have a car certfified by increasing power by that much (you certainly do in NZ) or risk getting tickets and a car that cant get a warrant of fitness.

A T would have a different engine, box/trans, driveshaft (potentially), diff (LSD), some wiring differences (for sensors etc).

Not to mention - when you go to sell a XR6 with a conversion, it will probably be worth less than a standard XR (cause people will be wary of it).

My advice - give your wife the XR6 and buy a T! For the young fellah considering this - buy something smaller and faster that isnt restricted - do your time and buy an F6 in a couple of years.

Speak with Simon at Nizpro. They built a Fairmont Ghia turbo before you could get all the luxury options in the XR's, and have turbo'd a couple of na territories so have some experience with going through this process.

I am sure they could do this work and give a you a indication of price to do so, however I suspect that they would have based this around their stage II Cobra kit plus you would need to add the turbo, manifolds, exhaust as a minimum, which I suspect would take this well over your 10k budget.

Either way have a chat with Simon, and good luck!!!!

Cheers, :spoton:

Ben.

Might also be worth looking at the S/C kits out for the BA 6cly. CAPA have a kit for 6k that makes 230rwkw on the standard NA engine!
