G'day guys.

I'm new to the world of the XR6T (although have been sniffing around for a little while) and have bought an early '03 BA MK1 - unfortunately, the car's in Bris and I'm well north of that but a few weeks and that will be cured.

But I'm not without my questions! The previous owner decided that the No. 6 conrod was better suited to punching holes in the block than being connected to anything much (the dealer, lol, tried to explain to my GF about conrods - apparently, no. conrods = 2x no. cylinders, and push on rocking thingies, and - you get the idea) and a new engine was fitted to the car late last year. All above board, police certificates and all OK. But what engine do I have?

Old engine number was JGSW3C3xxxx and new is QE5000xxxx.

It's had SS CAI fitted... beyond that some things that the dealer said, but refer my comments about con rods. He said something about Bosch sensors, 30% extra flow and adjustable boost, but... I might just wait until I can look at the car directly some more on this stuff. That all said, and following on from my engine question, what sort of mods are relatively "safe" without smashing the auto up? or popping valve springs? It's ultimately an everday car but, of course, there's no need for it to be boring! I think the old engine had an edit, new one? no idea.

Lastly (sorry for the long post) the car has been through "McLean Motors" in Brendale, QLD. Are these guys worth talking to, going back to, etc?

Sooo - to recap

(1) engine type is??

(2) what are useful mods to start with?

(3) Mclean Motors - anyone with good gen?

Welcome to loony bin oops I mean site!

It sounds as though your car has bosch fuel injectors fitted probably 968's (that's good) the adjustable boost could be either edit or a piggyback.

Not sure on the engine number, my block was replaced however they just stamped it with the same engine number.

As for mods, get yourself a trans cooler fitted first up, then an edit (There are heaps of edit dealers around however I know Fist are up in Brisvegas and they do the edits.) With the 968 injectors that should see you up around 260-270 kw with valve springs being your limiting factor.

Feel free to use the search button and have a read of some of the topics as all of your questions are bound to have been answered before.

Good luck and enjoy!

Give some of us Brisbane heads time to get to your thread and we might shine some light on your car, Power Torque are popular tuners in Bris, so their word should be on the money for you.

Maybe tell us colour and rego if original numbers, klm's etc

You could call Mark from power torque and describe the car, I am sure he will give you the run down.

Maybe let us know what colour and rego and stuff like scotty said and we might know the car.

Power Torque are repuatable tuners, but if you take it out to FIST the guys will check over it for you and schedule your mods. I see you only have 3 posts so welcome, enjoy the site and the answers to all your questions are here. And if you think its helpful, dont forget to donate.

Cool. I'm chasing up reciepts for the work done and will post that info up when I get it...

The car is a Phantom sedan, 699-GZT. Dyno I have shows 284rwkw @ 159kph in 3rd (it's an auto) with 12psi peak boost BUT that was before the engine was replaced... I'm thinking perhaps a case of those conrods needing to be a little stronger!

lol

No, not unseen. I went down and bought it but it'll be staying down there for a while to fit in with other plans before driving it up the coast. Sorry if I gave that impression!

As for knowing much about it, yeah, that's true enough. Had a bit of a crawl over it, it was from a dealer so has a statutory warranty, and ultimately the aim wasn't to buy a super quick car... so finding out the exact details of work done after the event is OK. If a few things are done and over time I can fill in the gaps - happy days.

And as I put on another thread somewhere, $26K.
