Just wondering if anybody's knows what 2003 mk1 XR6T's (auto or manual) are going for at the fowles auctions at the moment. If anyones good at the whole depresiation thing, a rough guess of the price at these auctions in 1-2 years would be helpful..

About $30,000 not to much more for one that has low k's. For a Mk1 you could probably get an ex police one which are auctioned for about this price, with about 40k on the clock. With high k's some ppl have been getting them for $25,000 and even lower such as $22,000. consider private buying not just auctions and other auctions such as pickels.

Just bought an XR6T in Bris, car yard, 90,000km but new engine for $26K. There's a few out there around this price for private sale. I was mainly looking Bris/Gold Coast.

Anything over 22k for a T at the auctions is a rip and wouldnt touch it. I went to pickles in melb bout a month ago and there was a silver BA turbo with 45,000 on the clock, just premium sound nothing else, body was not bad, I thought would probably start at bout 18. Anyway the guy tried to start it at 25, which is ridiculous becuase you can buy one privately for that. Anyway a guy put his hand up for 22 and ended up selling for 26, not worth the money, u cant test it, where as privately you can and if its going for the same price I wouldnt buy it at the auctions. that's just my 2c!

I just got my 03 xr6t with 12 months rego and 40000kms with leather, sunroof, premium sound,19 inch wheels and great condition for $24000.

I find that quite depressing really, good for you though. I brought mine new just over 2 years ago and it cost me 50K on road. And now it is worth less than half of what I paid for it. It is in absolutely immaculate condition with only 30K on the clock. I won't ever sell this car but the next car I buy will never be a new one.

I bought mine brand new,you pay a premium for being the only person that has driven your car but also you know it`s history and the only time it has been thrashed is when you thrashed it.As oppose to my I turn my car over every 12 months so stuff the service stuff the oil change stuff if it gets hit,stuff where I park stuff that I scraped the sh*t out of the underneath and f*cked the suspension coz he`s not gonna keep it.

At the end of the day if you keep the car over 5 years it`s still worth buying new instead of someone elses problem.

Most cars of this age are ex lease cars and would be merticusly maintained anyway.

I would not hesitate buying a car at auction as you buy what you see not something that are car yard has made look good!

Ex Lease cars are not neccessarily maintained as many people think so. For the company I work for we get our cars from a lease company. They apprently appears to set thier own service intervals. For example I got a brand new vehicle the other day and it had come up to its first 1000k service. I was told that the car is not to get its service until 15000ks had come up. I was shocked to be honest. But hell its not my car at the end of the day. Our cars get virtually raped- Everyone uses them and trashes the out of them. So what you have to ask yourself is it may appear to have low ks but you have to see how the ks were accumlated. Its like this- trashing the out of it until it reaches say 40,000ks and then dumping it at the auctions. After looking at the state of our cars I think I would rather buy privatly. Our cars rake up about 250Ks a day 7 days a week from numerous drivers before it is eventually dumped and winds up at Fowles Auction Group.

what sort of car are we talking about? I know our cars get serviced exactly to the service scedule and if they come back with poor service history the company is charged
