...to a stock 2003 auto T (60,000kms). It's (finally) getting a new planetary gearset for the auto fitted this week by Ford as a warranty fix (whine in 1st, 2nd and 4th gears).

Question is, should I be getting Ford (at my expense, of course) to fit a transmission cooler at the same time?

Is there a stock Ford item that can be used? (from the 'Phoon?)

If so, how much are they (including fitting)?

Will this add 'insurance' to the gearbox in a stock application that doesn't tow much?

Give Dave @ Kewish a ring on 0397932220, he'll be able to give you an I dea on price and what sort of cooler you'll need. He'll also be able to tell you the best place to put it.

I noticed you're in Canberra so get in touch with Dannopower or MS700 and they'll be able to tell you the best places to get it done there.

I know that if you fit a trans cooler to your car and you go in for a warranty claim on your gearbox you will be knocked back as the gearbox has been modified from standard. Its stupid because you are actually helping the gearbox.

Yes fit a cooler.

See DTS in Fyshwick who supplied and fitted mine which is a large Davies Craig cooler.

Cost about $500 fitted as I recall.

I dont think there is a cooler made for the typhoons buddy, have to go aftermarket.

Ford are real sh*te about this subject, so it depends on your relationship with your service manager and his attitude. Belco are much better than Gregory's or Woden about this sort of stuff.

DTS can fit one for you like dingah said, If you can put up with the whinging, miserable cranky old tight ass that owns it!

Charged a mate of mine $180 for a power run on the dyno a few weeks back!

As danno said, DTS can fit... but be prepared to pay! As stated, I got charged $183 just to do a dyno evaluation... no tuning. Pays to shop around mate, just give a few of the local transmission places a call. I found jake (jakes performance) to be reasonably priced when he quoted my clutch install. As geea mentioned, I'd probably buy from interstate... everything I have bought from interstate as always ended up costing a lot less... then find some one in canberra willing to do the install.

Actually, the tranny cooler was the only thing I actually bought here in the ACT, from Filter Factory in Fyshwick (Also known as Enzed).

They could sell me a PWR tranny cooler cheaper than anyone else even on the net!
