..A friend of mine with an XR6 turbo ute had his T5 rebuilt by Mal Wood and it came back doing exactly that.  He ended up selling the ute a month later.....

Got a name? You must remember that if you stuff up the shift completely just once on a perfect box, it is all over. Ben.

I would say he's talking worst case scenario... I know I have missed plenty of gears and mine is still going strong.

f*ck all ford dealers...

"could not replicate" is the bullsh*t I was fed on friday arvo, while recieving the car back an hour late while some bas*ard is washing it and making it worse considering I just washed it!!

worse than that I get charged for a filter and installation and I find it on my passenger seat still in the box!!! wtf am I sposed to do with that!!

I told the service jockey that he is gettin in the car an I'll show him the problem, but he tells me I need to book it in for that an its his home time..

it gets worse, they wanted $385 for a 45k service!!! I was quoted 290 on the phone so I told him that his 385 would fit nicely up his lazy arse..

WORST SERVICE EVER!

Know how you feel mate - I've been burnt before - I now ring for quotes (my 45k service cost $150 at Centre Ford with me providing my own oil).

As for warranty claims, my next Ford will be out of warranty when I buy it so I can just go and get things fixed, pay for it and know its done properly. Getting things fixed under warranty just shouldn't be the headache it so often is.......

Stuff up the shift once - and the box is buggered?

What does it damage?

and how badly does the shift have to be stuffed to do it?  (eg shift from 5th to 1st?)

If you burn the fork pads the hub will intermittantly lay over and ruin shift quality in that gear or gear pair. You may damage or de-laminate the synchro material, or do dog damage to the hub or gear. Driving with a clutch not bled correctly can do damage also. Remember, this is worst case, and as people have said, some miss a gear often and do no harm, but it is possible, and it may not be the customers fault. I know a bloke (not one of our dealers), that broke a rear CV test driving a customers GT-P, so stranger things have happened. Ben.
