the problem is it pops out of 2nd when letting the clutch out during decel..

taking the plastic surround off seemed to make it a little better, blipping the throttle also helped but its still a pain in the ass.

any clue as to what it may be??

That would be VERY bizarre...

Sounds like the selector is misaligned or something... I think a trip to the dealer is in order...................... AGAIN :sleepystuff:

I had problems with gear selection but mine was 5th and the 'shifter block' was replaced under warranty...

My shift felt VERY vague before hand, but after the warranty it felt alot more positive...

If that makes sense... maybe you are experiencing something similar...

nother problem...

wont slot into second or third sometimes when shifting at redline..

the two issues related anyone think??

how much for a t56??

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Clutch or syncro problem maybe? I'm not a mechanic, but mine does the same when shifting at hi rpm. I dropped the rev limiter to stop that from happening.

Dunno if a T56 is the way to go - it depends on what your after. If you want to go drag racing then an auto would be a no brainer. If you like the control of shifting manually then a manual would be the better option.

I like the manual, but my next purchase would be an auto.

I think our boy is a fan of drift work :stirthepot:

Kieran, shifting at high rpm will be difficult from the factory as mine was, also some gearboxes dont seem to like being shifted too quickly. Have you had a look at the oil? Get some good oil in there and see if it still happens. Any word on the not staying in gear problem? What has the dealer said?

going into dealer today..

I have tranzmax z in there so oil should be all good. only 15k old now.

I think m6 might be right about the clutch, because another funny thing it does is squeak when you shift to fast..

shift into 2nd and it'll chirp but all the other gears makes the clutch squeak. it sounds like one of those really ricer bov's, and is pretty loud.. does this indicate clutch problem?

it makes the same noise if you shift into 2nd fast ish with the tc on too...

thanks for the replys guys :sofa:

Had the same problem with my XH Longreach ute. Would pop out of second all the time and wouldn't shift at high rpm. This was AFTER a complete rebuild of the gearbox and a new clutch. Ended up getting a near new T5 box for $400... Problem solved.

A friend of mine with an XR6 turbo ute had his T5 rebuilt by Mal Wood and it came back doing exactly that. He ended up selling the ute a month later.....
