Took it to the dealer today

The logged cause was a fault in the vehicle speed sensor - presumably part of the ABS? and also the reason the speedo stopped working.

Funnily enough it has been fine since and tested today was fine also.

They said if it does it again they'll change the sensor.

They couldn't give any other explanation other than "a glitch"

Same thing happened to me and Ford said the same thing. The car is out of warrenty now and it has gone into limp mode a couple of times in the last 4 months. If it becomes a big problem I'll get the sensor replaced.

1 month out of warranty and my first limp mode today. Yippee!

Was basically just crawling in bumper to bumper traffic, went to take off again and realised 1st gear was on holidays. Flashing "D" and no speedo.

Couldn't stop till after a short freeway run but pulled over after the exit, turned her off and back on and no problems.

Seriously doubt it would be overboost or tranny overheating considering I was crawling and it was bloody cold tonight so I figure a sensor is a little confused....

Anyone had a speed sensor changed or can let me know how much they are to replace?
