I've noticed the rubber shaving as well, I'll ask about it when I get my 3000km service done on tuesday. I just put it down to the belt wearing in, maybe theres more?

Shavings seem to be common place as they were in my previous AU/EF models. My dealer said that it's common to have this problem when new.

I think as you put more kms on the car, the belt gets worn in more and more and rubber shavings stop. Mine was pretty bad at the start but now at 8000kms, its much less.

There was another thread about this, apparently the tensoner roller can have a rough edge to it, just needs emerying down.

Fortunately the 'hawk isn't too bad, but saw a mates engine and it looked like the inside of a diesel exhaust, man.......black stuff everywhere, no kidding would have been about 2 - 3mms thick over the tensioning roller area. :beerchug:

I have done about 2500km since the tensioner and belt were fixed and are pleased to say that no black shavings are to be seen plus nice and quiet from start up.Must be the idler pulley which they modified.

I had mine in yesterday to get the alternator replaced (see first page of thread) and I still had some squeal this morning. Not as loud as what it was, but definitely not fixed.

I still think it is the power steering pulley that is making the noise in mine (that's where the sound seems to come from) but what would I know, I am just a stoopid customer

I think I am going to try to get the belt replaced next, as well as getting the PS pulley checked.

Keep hounding them, my "T" HAS 16'000K'S now and I hear nothing at all from the engine bay other than the lovely little turbo whine as the revs get up, something is not right and if they want to pump out these cars with these faults, let em fix em, just had my disc machined again, second time in 16,000k's, they will continue to machine, replace rotors, whatever until this is fixed. One thing that absolutely RILES me is when you take your car in for some kind of fix and you pick up the car and they say "yep she's right now mate, and you drive out of the dealership and see the problems still there immediately, makes me want to go into "TERMINATOR MODE":angry::angry:

Hope you don't keep guns in the house. :D :D

But merc, can't agree with you more, and as I said in my post about service manager hating this forum, why do you need to prepare yourself as if you are going to go into battle every time you take your car to them, pisses me off no end.:angry:

On the discs, just before warranty runs out buy a set of DBA's and get them to fit them free rather than replace the standard ones.
