Hi all, I have recently noticed intermittent noise coming from the front of the engine, first I thought it may have been the timing chain but after closer inspection I think it is the plastic pullie at the front top of the engine.

It is not constant and seems worse when it is hot or wet, has anyone else had this problem and if so did you take it back to ford, I still have a couple of months warranty.

Thanks in advance

Deano

Re : I think it is the plastic pullie at the front top of the engine.

If its the small one just below the Rocker-Cover it's the Idler Pully / Bearing. Have it fixed asap. It is only a small job.

If the Unit s***ts itself, the belt will come off and you will loose drive to the power steering pump, water pump and alternator. Not a nice feeling @ all.

Agreed, I had the idler pulley replaced after I rebuilt the engine, started to get noisy, quick job, got mine under warranty though!

yeh mine makes the same sound. seems to do it when its cold more often than when its warmed up. also seems to make the sound more louder if the car isnt driven for like 1+ day then its started up.

looks like its a easy swap under warranty, just have to get off my lazy butt and get them to change it.

Any idea how long it takes for them to do it? id want to hang around while fraud replaces it.
